S13 wheel offset: will these wheels fit?
An S13 or 180SX answers this question in two halves. First the stud pattern, which is the only chassis on this site where the factory answer and the converted answer are different numbers, and then the offset, where the coupe and the hatch stop agreeing with each other at the rear. Both halves are below, and the calculator opens on the S13 preset.

An S13 and a 180SX are 4x114.3 from factory. An S14 and an S15 are 5x114.3. Five-stud converted S13s, which is a very common mod using S14, R32 or R33 hubs and knuckles, take 5x114.3 as well. So the same shell can be shopping in either pool, and no amount of correct offset rescues a wheel with the wrong stud pattern.
If a conversion is anywhere in the plan, do it before you buy wheels. It completely changes what you are shopping for, and 4x114.3 sets do not sell as quickly as 5x114.3 sets when you have to move them on. Never run wobble bolts or adapters to force a wrong-PCD wheel onto a drift car: the loads through a wheel mid-slide are exactly the loads that find shortcuts. Hub bore is 66.1mm, and larger bores are fine with proper hub rings.
The S13 preset, and what it is anchored to
The calculator opens an S13 on 18x9.5 ET27 at both ends. That is not a stock figure and it is not a guess: it is a row this site's published chart calls flush, which is what lets the tool put a guard lip somewhere defensible before you have typed anything. Of the nine chassis in the dropdown, only the S13, S14 and S15 are anchored that way. Everything else is a starting point to correct, and the tool says so on screen.
The guard plane itself is never invented. It is derived from the wheel you tell the tool you run now plus one plain-language answer about where that wheel sits, so if your car is lower, higher or already poking, the verdict follows your car rather than our reference.
180SX rear quarters run out of room first
This is the one genuinely chassis-specific trap in the S-chassis family, and it does not show up in the model name on a wheel listing. The 180SX rear quarters are tighter than the S13 coupe and sedan, so the same wheel that tucks on a coupe still wants the guard rolled on a hatch. At 17x9.5 or 18x9.5 in the +15 to +25 band, an S13 coupe tucks where a 180SX needs the roll.
Go to 18x10 and wider below +15 and the 180SX is the car in this family where flares stop being a last resort and become the honest answer. If you are shopping a set that a seller ran on a coupe, that is useful information, not a guarantee.
The rear bands for an S13 and 180SX
These are this chassis's rows only. The full lookup tables, including every other width and both other chassis, live in the S-chassis wheel fitment chart, which is the deeper reference and the better page if you want to compare bands side by side.
- 17x9.5 or 18x9.5, +25 and above. Flush at +25, tucking further as the offset climbs.
- 17x9.5 or 18x9.5, +15 to +25. Needs the guard rolled. This is the band where the coupe and the 180SX part company.
- 17x9.5 or 18x9.5, below +15. Needs a pull as well as a roll.
- 18x10 and wider, below +15. Roll, pull and real camber, with flares a live option, and the 180SX quarters running out of room first.
The front does not split by chassis at all, which is deliberate rather than lazy: converted to poke, the three front reference fitments this site works from put the three front guard lips within about 1.5mm of each other, which is well inside the spread of the sources themselves. The extra room an S14 and S15 have over an S13 shows up at the rear, which is why only the rear table splits.
Seventeens, where most S13s actually land
Eighteens are what the offset questions are usually about, but 17 inch is where the deepest supply of both wheels and sticky secondhand tyres sits in Australia. The worn-in numbers: 17x8 around +30 to +33 on a 215 or 225 clears basically everything at sane ride heights, 17x9 in the high teens to mid twenties with rolled guards and a couple of degrees of camber is the classic S13 fitment, and 17x9.5 or 10 below +15 is a look-and-commitment decision rather than a bolt-on one.
Rim diameter does not move the wheel sideways. A 17x9 and an 18x9 at the same offset put the rim lip in the same place; diameter changes tyre choice and brake clearance, not poke. That is why the bands above are quoted by width and offset only.
Then go and buy the set
Once you know your band, listings here carry PCD, diameter, width and offset as structured fields, so you can filter to 4x114.3 or 5x114.3 and the exact offset range instead of dragging the numbers out of a seller with a torch. Browse wheels and tyres for sale, or if the set in your shed turned out to be the wrong offset for the build, list them free: someone shopping against these exact bands is searching for precisely those numbers.
Two habits worth keeping on a secondhand set. Ask the seller to measure the offset rather than trust the listing title, because "18x9.5 et15" typed from memory is wrong often enough to matter. And test fit before you mount fresh tyres: a verdict of "needs roll" assumes a competent roll on a guard in decent condition, and rust or prior damage changes the outcome.
