S14 wheel offset: will these wheels fit?

An S14 is 5x114.3, it has a wider body than an S13 and a bit more room all round, and it is the one chassis on this site whose reference fitment is genuinely staggered. That means the honest answer to "will these fit" is two answers, one per axle, and buying a square set without knowing that is how people end up with a rear that fits and a front that does not.

The stagger is the whole point

The calculator opens an S14 on 18x9 ET22 at the front and 18x9.5 ET23 at the rear. Of the nine chassis presets, this is the only one where the two axles differ in both width and offset, and it is not a styling choice. The front carries less power and its priority is steering clearance, so front width usually runs half an inch to a full inch narrower than the rear at the same offset once a car is staggered. The rear is where traction lives and where the guard has more to give.

Both of those numbers are rows this site's published chart calls flush, which is what anchors the S14 guard planes to published data rather than to a guess. Only the S13, S14 and S15 presets are anchored that way. If you run a square set, check both axles in the calculator before you commit: the answer can differ by a whole verdict at the same wheel.

The S14 rear bands

  • 18x9.5, +22 and above. Flush at +22, tucking further as the offset climbs. This is the safe reference point on a stock body.
  • 18x9.5, +12 to +22. Needs the guard rolled.
  • 18x9.5, below +12. Needs a pull as well as a roll.

An S14 rear reaches flush 3mm sooner than an S13 rear at the same wheel, +22 against +25. That is the measurable version of "a bit more room all round", and at the edge of a band 3mm is the difference between a set you bolt on and a set you book a guard roll for.

18x10 and wider, the size everyone is really asking about

At 18x10 and up the chart stops splitting by chassis, and that is deliberate: at that width the sourced builds disagree with each other by more than they disagree by badge, so separating them by model would dress a disagreement up as a specification.

  • 18x10 and wider, +15 and above. Needs a roll and camber. Budget for the pull.
  • 18x10 and wider, below +15. Roll, pull and real camber, with flares a live option.

Where this is genuinely contested: builds on a rolled-only guard running a 245 report clean clearance, while others at what looks like the same size and offset report needing the full pull plus flares. Ride height, camber and how much stretch is on the tyre move it. The honest read is to budget for a pull and be pleasantly surprised if a roll is all it takes, never the reverse.

Where S14 and S15 owners stop agreeing

The two chassis share a great deal, but the guard profile is not identical, and this is the spot where copying someone else's numbers off a forum goes wrong. One well-documented S15 build runs 9J at +12 front and 10J at +12 rear on standard arches with nothing more than a rear roll. S14 owners chasing the same width and offset commonly report needing a pull and real camber to get there cleanly.

Neither report is wrong. It is a fair measure of how much spread these sources carry, which is about one verdict either way at the edges of a band. Treat any specific combination you read about as a strong lead rather than a guarantee until you have test-fitted it on your own car, and read the S15 page for the other side of the same disagreement.

Seventeens on an S14

17 inch is where the deepest supply of secondhand wheels and sticky tyres sits in Australia, and an S14 wears them easily: 17x9 in the low twenties is comfortable with rolled guards, and 17x9.5 around the high teens is achievable with guard work and camber, particularly on the rear. Diameter does not move the wheel sideways at all, so a 17x9 and an 18x9 at the same offset put the rim lip in the same place. What changes with diameter is tyre cost and brake clearance.

Then go and buy the set

Listings here carry PCD, diameter, width and offset as structured fields, so you can filter to 5x114.3 at the exact width and offset band the calculator just gave you. Browse wheels and tyres for sale, and if you have a staggered set that no longer suits the build, list them free with both axles spelled out, because a staggered set sold as one size is a set nobody can evaluate.

Ask the seller to measure the offset rather than trust the listing title, and price any repaired wheel as repaired. On a car with this much rear width available, a buckled 9.5J is a common thing to be offered cheaply.
