S15 wheel offset: will these wheels fit?

An S15 is 5x114.3 with a similar overall footprint to an S14 and its own guard shape. It is also the only chassis here where the published rear bands run all the way from tucked to needing a pull on a single width, which means the question is not only whether a wheel fits but how far either side of flush you want to sit.

Four rear bands on one width

  • 18x9.5, +30 and above. Tucks.
  • 18x9.5, +20 to +30. Flush to slight poke.
  • 18x9.5, +10 to +20. Needs the guard rolled.
  • 18x9.5, below +10. Needs a pull as well as a roll.

Neither the S13 nor the S14 gets a tucks row at this width, and that is the useful part. On those cars the highest published band is flush, so shopping above it is extrapolation. On an S15 you can aim for tucked on purpose, at a known number, which matters if the car is street driven or if the guards are straight and you would rather keep them that way.

The front is where S15s get caught

The calculator opens an S15 on 18x9 ET22 at the front and 18x9.5 ET22 at the rear, both anchored to chart rows rather than guessed. The trap is one step wider up front. At 18x9.5 the +15 to +25 band needs the guard rolled, and the chart flags that the common S15 front combination lands right in it. Plenty of people buy that set expecting it to bolt on.

Front side, remember that steering angle changes everything an offset table can tell you. A wheel that clears straight ahead can still destroy the front bar reinforcement and the guard liner at full lock, which is a real consideration on any car running knuckles or an angle kit. Every band on this page is a static check: car stationary, wheels straight or at a normal alignment angle.

The standard-arch build that beats the table

One well-documented S15 build runs 9J at +12 front and 10J at +12 rear on standard arches with nothing more than a rear roll. Read against the tables that is remarkable: the front sits a full band easier than the front rows give it, and S14 owners chasing the same width and offset commonly report needing a pull and real camber to get there cleanly.

Take the right lesson from it. It is not proof that an S15 clears 10J at +12, it is a fair measure of how much spread these sources carry, which is about one verdict either way at the edges of a band. Ride height, camber, tyre stretch and the condition of the guard move every row. The S14 page carries the other side of this, where the same numbers are reported as a project rather than a bolt-on.

Seventeens on an S15

The 17x9 low-twenties starting point that suits an S14 applies here too, and S15s wear 17x9.5 rears well with the usual roll and camber. Since diameter does not move the wheel sideways, a 17 inch set at the same width and offset lands the rim lip in the same place as an 18: what changes is tyre cost per corner, which matters when the rears are consumables, and how much brake you can hide behind the spokes.
