An LS swap is the pragmatic answer for a car that needs to be reliable and cheap to run at real power. LS engines are compact, light for the power they make, and parts and tuning knowledge are everywhere in Australia, and a stock LS makes more torque than a built 13B for less drama and less rebuild risk.
